I don’t watch much network television. I’m really enjoying “Heroes” on NBC.
How would I describe it? It’s kind of a combination of the 4400, Taken, the X-Men, the X-Files, the Manchurian Candidate, toss in some David Lynch like moments and maybe you’ll come close. As things move on, we’ll get more ensemble play. The characters are all very strong and should have interesting interactions.
First of all, if you’re going to steal, steal from the best. So, it makes perfect sense to have a hero named Hiro. Hey, if it worked for Stephenson, it can work for Tim Kring.
At first I expected an X-Men ripoff, but oh was I wrong. It’s extremely original. OK, so the main characters are mutants. I think. But if so, that’s where the similarity ends.
Hmmm. Depending on how the story progresses we might end up with another pro-transhumanist statement.
Oh, and there are a couple of mass murderers.
If this sounds like a bit of a mishmash, well, there are already signs of the threads pulling together. The heroes’ powers have to all fit together somehow. Let’s hope they pull it off.
I definitely recommend it. We should encourage this sort of program. Watch it!
I have to say it, because everyone seems to be searching for it: “Save the Cheerleader, save the world.”
Oh, and HAPPY MOLE DAY!
I have been watching with high hopes. I agree with your analysis of the show. I certainly hope Kring can pull it off.
