Bad Habit, picked up long before college. Reading multiple books at once.
The number of books I’m currently reading has started to grow. I’ll finish them all, but they are growing in number.
Stanley Kim Robinson – Forty Signs of Rain
Michael Moorcock – Elric of Melnebone (surprise, I’ve never read it)
Steven Pinker – The Blank Slate
And, of course, the aformentioned Howard Waldrop collection of shorts – Coming Home Again
And now, a political announcement.
"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it’s true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt. If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake." – Thomas Jefferson, 1798
Helpful to think about, but, it is a little different when battle lines are drawn, not over just over political differences, but over physiological differences. Here’s a wierd question: Will Red America embrace genetic engineering as a way of decreasing the percentage of gay people in the population?
